Lakers vs. Celtics; No more flopping?

Gregory Shamus/Getty Images

Next season the NBA will fine players for flopping. Yes they will be fined money. I've heard different arguments about this in the past and I know a lot of people agree with it but how do you know is someone is flopping. Isn't that a hard thing to judge. I know sometimes is clearly obvious but then theres other times where it is really hard to tell. Im curious to see how this will play out next year. I will definitely be keeping an eye out.

Lakers vs. Celtics. I am pumped to see this old rivalry renewed. It's about time to see these two teams back on top. Im not going to make any predictions yet but i I think it will be a very exciting series and it's going to be intense. The celtics handeled businees very well last night. The 4th quarter they had was dominate. paul pierce was unstoppable and KG was doing work. That sucks for the pistons. 3 straight times being eliminated in the eastern Conference finals. I think there window is closing on them to win another championship. How much longer can Rip, Chanucey and Sheed keep playing at this high level. Anyways im happy for Paul Pierce and Kobe for leading their teams there after all the heat they took a year ago. It's nice to see hrad work paying off.

Conference Finals; NHL?

Garrett Ellwood/NBAE/Getty Images

Hey there. It's been a minute since I last blogged but there has been some interesting news out there. First I will start off with the Celtics. Hopefully they win tonight and go up 3-2 on the pistons and virtually take control of the series. I think the pressure is on them to win at home. The Pistons have already proved that they can beat the Celtics in the garden, I think it's on the Celtics to play with that since of urgency. I think they will take care of business but I think this series is a lot different now that Chauncey Billups is not 100%. It's a different Pistons team without him as an offensive threat. The Pistons will come out strong tonight but the Celtics will whether the storm and Kevin Garnett will not be Kevin Gar-nott like he was in game 4 and lead his boys one game closer to the Finals.

The Lakers did it! They beat the Spurs in San Antonio. I think the series is all but over. The lakers played a great game and made the Spurs look like a sub par team and better yet put them in a big time whole. For the record derek Fisher did not foul Brent Barry on that last play. I think if he would have went up with the shot after the intial contact then maybe it was a foul but not after he stopped and hesitated. Kobe Bryant has been playing at a tremendous level and it's fun to see him be a team player and make his teammates better. this is the Kobe i've been waiting to see.

On a lighter note Big Brown has a cracked hoof and was out for a couple days but he will be ready to go to complete the triple crown. When I first heard the news I was kind of worried but now im confident he will win next saturday.

Whats up with Sidney Crosby? 2 straight shutouts. I don't expect him to win his first Stanley Cup Finals appearance but as the best player in the league can't go down in two shutouts. Expect a big game in game 3 tonight.

Bulls win Lottery; O.J. Mayo

The Bulls won the NBA draft lottery. The poor Miami Heat still got the number 2 pick and are in a win-win situation a will get either Michael Beasley or Derrick Rose. I think the bulls should get Michael Beasley because they need the low-post presence in the paint. Joakim Noah is not the answer. Although Kirk Hinrich does have some trade value and they can't go wrong with drafting the Chicago native in Rose. The Miami Heat will also benefit from either one of these All-Americans. I must say the Bulls got lucky. They had a 1.7% chance of winning and some how beat the Heat who has a 25% chance of winning. Im interested to see what the Bulls will do with the top pick.

O.J. Mayo has been in the news none stop and im kind of sick of it. The evidence and allegations against him are huge and could tarnish both his high school and college legacies. However It will not effect his draft status whatsoever. I don't know whether or not to believe him. I want to think he didn't take money but there is a lot of evidence and facts against him. Honestly, who has a flat screen tv in their dorm room? That doesn't seem right. I will keep you posted on this story as information continues to leak. Let me know what you think the NCAA should do?

Spurs;Trade Rumors

Andrew D. Bernstein/NBAE/Getty Images

The Spurs did it. I am very upset. The Spurs are a great team and I will never pick against them again. Every time that I do it back fires. I was really hoping that the Hornets would stun the Spurs but it just didn't work out that way. The Spurs showed exactly why they are the defending champs and why you just can't count them out. All I can do is hope that Kobe Bryant and the Lakers finish off the job that the Hornets started.

There is a huge NBA trade rumor out there between the Nets and the Nuggets. The propsed trade is Marcus Williams, Richard Jefferson, Keith Van Horn, and a first round draft pick for Marcus Camby and Carmelo Anthony. That's Right! Carmelo Anthony! I would be really suprised if this trade were to go through. Rumor has it that its only in the preliminary stages but what a difference this would make in the Eastern Conference if it were to go through. All I have to say is poor Allen Iverson. He can't catch a break.

Kanye #1; Big Brown=Triple Crown; Game 7

Coglianese Photos

MTV has come out with a new list for the top MCs right now. Here is the list for 2008.

1. Kanye West
2. Jay-Z
3. Lil Wayne
4. Rick Ross
5. Snoop Dogg
6. 50 Cent
7. Lupe Fiasco
8. Young Jeezy
9. Andre 3000
10. T.I.

I called Kanye West at the top. Im kind of suprised to see Jay-Z at number two. I'm also not sold on Andre 3000 being in the top 10. Feel free to comment and let me know what you think of this top 10 and who would be in your respected top 10.

I don't know much about horse racing but I just thought I would say that Big Brown is sick and he will win the triple crown and become the 11th horse to do so.

Im happy to see the Celtics won game 7 against the Cavs. No one should hate on LeBron James anymore. 45 points in game 7 in Boston is impressive and to get as close as he did to a win is amazing. However I am happy to see that Celtics will move on and face the Pistons. This is a very inrtiguing matchup and everyone has been looking forward to it since the start of the season. I am going to say that the Celtics will win in 5 games. 6 at the most. I think the celtics will turn it around completely and will be too much for the Pistons to handle.

Kobe; Stupid Spurs; Celtics need to win.

Albert Bernstein/NBAE/Getty Images

Kobe needs to have a big game tonight. Game 6 in Utah is bound to be hostile and a tough place to play. However Kobe needs to go for 35+. He can't have another game when he just takes 10 shots. He has to be aggressive for 48 minutes and must control the game by scoring and facilitating for them to win on the road. Utah will come to play hard and with only 5 home losses all year (including playoffs) it's very hard to pick against them, but I'm going to go with the Lakers in game 6 by a slim margin.

The Spurs won again. I hate it. They are a great team and deserve the success they have had in the past 9 years but I really want the Hornets to win. As good as the Hornets have been at home it's still really hard to pick against Tim Duncan and the Spurs in game 7. I am not going to go with the safe pick though. You know why? Because Chris Paul is the man. The Hornets will stun the Spurs and pull off the slight upset and get ready to head to LA, monday for game 1 of the Western Conference Finals.

Celtics need to win on the road in Cleveland tonight. They can't just keep depending on their home-court advantage to keep advancing. I'm no expert or analyst but it seems to me that the Celtics look flat when the play away from the Garden. They don't have any intensity and have no motivation but when they are in Boston they have the passion and the pride and play at a high level. Lebron is a great player and may be too good to depend on a game 7 to beat him. So I'm calling it now if the Celtics don't win tonight the Cavs will win game 7. As much as I hate to say it, it's true. Let's Go Celtics!

Who's the number one rapper?

newcritics.com

This is my first music post. I didn't really know how to start it until I saw that MTV is ranking the top 10 rappers that are hot right now. Last year MTV did this and voted. This was last years top 10.

1. Lil Wayne

2. T.I.

3. Game

4. Andre 3000

5. Kanye West

6. Young Jeezy

7. Jay-Z

8. 50 Cent

9. Common

10. Jim Jones

Hmmm. I don't know what to think of that. I have no idea what made Jim Jones, Game, or Andre 3000 hot last year. Game maybe. He was hot on a lot of mixtapes but Jim Jones had one hit song that lasted for like 2 years and as for Andre 3000 I don't remember him coming out with anything. I don't know who would be in my top ten. As for the number one rapper right now I would have to say Kanye West.

Celtics lose on the road; Let's Go Hornets

Sportsbetrus.blogspot.com

It's official, the Celtics can't win on the road. For the best road team in the league (31-10) to be 0-5 in the playoffs thus far is terrible. Although the Celtics can virtually lose every road game in the playoffs and still win the championship it's just unrealistic. The least amount of road games won by a championship team is 3. The thing that I don't get is that at home the celtics look so dominate and so unbeatable that it's ridiculous. However when they go on the road they look horrible. I want to say that the Celtics will turn it around soon but I really don't know.Celtics and Cavaliers will go to seven games. That's right seven games. The Celtics will advance to face the Pistons who will win their series in 5,respectively.

I want the Hornets to win so bad. If they lose I might cry. Chris Paul has by far been the most impressive player in these playoffs and has slowly redefined the point guard position. No one can argue that. Jason Kidd is great but he isn't as effective as Chris Paul. 2-time MVP Steve Nash is great but CP3 is even more impressive running the pick-and-roll and has a better overall game than both of them. Chris Paul is athletic, fast, smart and is the man. With the little talent that he is surrounded with, it's amazing that they are a higher seed than the Spurs and with a win tonight will have them on the ropes.

Celtics Take Control; Spurs Answer At Home

Art.com

The Celtics took a 2-0 lead on the Cleveland Cavaliers last night and once again held LeBron To a frustrating 6-24 shooting and 7 turnovers. It seems Lebron has no answer for the Celtics defense. In game 2 both Paul Pierce and Ray Allen had solid games and did what they were suppose to do at home. However Cleveland won both games at home during the regular season and Lebron had near triple doubles in each game. I think Lebron will have a great game and give the Cavs there only win of the series. Cavs win game 3.

The Spurs won game 3....unfortunately. Chris Paul had another great night with 35 points and 9 assists. The bad news about that was he was the only one who came to play. Everyone else struggled on the offensive end. Tim Duncan even had only 16 points and looks to have trouble with the defense from Tyson Chandler. We all know Tim Duncan is a great player but will he be able to show his dominance against this D? We will see. I hate picking against the Spurs because they always win but I really like the Hornets in game 4 in a close game.

Celtics and Hornets up; Kobe is MVP

(Gregory Shamus/ Getty Images)

The Celtics won game one versus the Cavaliers and hold LeBron to 2-18 shooting and just 12 points. Thats the type of championship defense we have all been waiting to see from the Celtics. Ray Allen Went scoreless and Paul Pierce had just 4 points. Needless to say they pulled off an impressive victory and look to take full control of the series tomorrow night in game 2. I think LeBron will bounce back and score 30+ with a near triple-double.

Chris Paul is the Man. He is the reason they are up 2-0 on the Spurs. I love it! I love to see the spurs lose and a Hornets Victory in game 3 will be awesome to see. Chris Paul has made a case to why he is the best point guard in the league. For the record he's better than Deron Williams. Chris Paul does it all and was my vote for MVP.

However Kobe was named in MVP and i think it was his time. Theres NO argument you can make against Kobe. He has always been a great player and this is just one more thing he can add to his resume. So for all you Kobe fans out there im not gonna hate on him he deserved this one and its about time. I think Kobe has reached an all new level and if he can win a championship I think he will be right up there with Jordan. He's the ultimate team player and has amazing talent and you can see he understands what he has to do to win. I think they will beat the Jazz in 5 and Kobe will be one step closer to his first finals without Shaq.

Pistons advance...FINALLY

Nick Lahman/Getty Images

Did anyone actually think the Pistons would lose to the Sixers? I will admit I was a little scared for them. The problem the Pistons face is that they seem disinterested and don't hustle and don't play defense. How much longer can they go playing like this? When they face a great team they won't have time to just turn it on and all the sudden play at a high level. The thing about the playoffs you have to come ready to play every night, because against a good team you won't be playing much longer. They got lucky now but I think these bad habits will eventually catch up with them.

I was thinking is it really Tracy McGrady's fault that he has yet to get out of the first round? We all know that he is a superstar but what about the supporting cast around him? You can't blame him for the teams lack of success in the playoffs. Also that team is not the same without Yao. However T-Mac in the first three games of the series had NO field goals and just one point. Thats ridiculous for someone with his talent. Knowing that makes it difficult to not blame him for his teams not being able to advance.

LeBron Doesnt advance; Celtics take care of business at home

NBAE/Getty Images

LeBron wasn't able to close out the Wizards Wednesday night and leave the door open for Caron butler and Co. I think its good Agent 0 decided to shut it down for the rest of the season because its clear to see the team chemistry they have without him. The are a much more explosive team and a much better team than when they have him on the floor. LeBron missed the game winning shot at the buzzer and I personally think he was fouled, but it was a good no call. I think LeBron will be just too good in game 6 and the Cavs will advance but don't be suprised by a Wizards victory in front of the home crowd.

Celtics dominate the Hawks at home once again. The Celtics didn't look old and showed why they are the best team in the league. They head back to Atlanta where the Hawks have played outstanding and look to extend this series to an epic game 7. I think the Celtics are back on track and will close the series out.
