My computer hasn't been working lately so i have been unable to blog. Im in school now and thought I would post one real quick since it has been awhile.
With the latest news from TIm Donaghy he is claiming that there were two playoff series, one in 2002 and another in 2005 that were rigged. He said the refs were told to not to eject star players in fear of hurting ticket sales and he even said refs made up fouls on teams the NBA wanted to lose. If this were to be true i would be pissed to say the least. But first here is why I don't think it is true. Apparently there has been an investigation over the past year on these allegations and they are just now coming to light. If this were true I believe it would have hit mainstream right away not a year later. In 2002 the playoff supposedly rigged was the Lakers-Kings series. You know the series when Robert Horry Hits that three as time expires? If he misses that then the Lakers probably don't win that series. So I don't think the refs would have been able to do very much to help the Lakers win at Arco Arena, which at the time was the most Hostile and Loudest Arena in the NBA by far. THe Kings also had the best home record that year.
However here is why it could be true. In the documents Donaghy's lawyer filed, it claims an unspecified owner complained to league officials about fouls not being called after being down 0-2. The league then made it apparent that they were gonna call fouls on this player intentionally. The owner who complained... Mark Cuban. The player the fouls were called on...Yao Ming for moving picks. In the 2002 Lakers-Kings series the Kings were up 3-2 heading into game 6. in this game the Lakers shot 27 foul shots in the 4th quarter alone. In one quarter that is a ridiculously large amount. If thats not being fixed then I don't know what is.Hmmm. This is very suspicious to me. As a huge NBA fan i would be Highly Disappointed if this were true.
The Celtics are up 2-1 on the Lakers and I love it. Im really suprised how poor the Lakers have been playing even Kobe hasn't played particularly well. He had just one assist last game and if it wasn't for Sasha Vujacic this series would be over. Kobe needs to do more than just score although he did take over the last two minutes of game 3. However that won't be enough to win the finals.

well sean, life is all about disappointment's. so i guess you have to be ready to be disappointed. you have to look at these games, the calls were absolutely ridiculous. true, the shot with horry, probably wouldn't have won the game without it, however, you have to realize there is only so much a reff can do. A reff could decide the outcome of a game easily if he didn't have to worry about making it obvious. So like i said before, there's only so much a reff can do. you know what i think man....haha.
Yeah that is true but theres so many questions up in the air right now. Donaghy is a convicted felon and you can only take everything he says with a grain of salt. I would like to hear more information before i can declare myself disappointed.
